Rules#

The Rules page is used to create and/or manage pricing strategies if you want to use automatic repricing of your products.

If you only want to monitor the market and the competition in Pricing Fox, you don’t need to create any rules. The app will automatically process all products from Mergado and run analyses on them.

What you’ll find here:#

• The table lists the repricing rules you’ve created in a precisely defined order. When pricing is calculated, the list is traversed from top to bottom and each product is always evaluated for whether it falls into the given rule (according to the query set in it) and/or meets its conditions. Products that don’t fall into the rule continue straight to the next rule in order. For products that don’t meet the rule’s conditions, you can choose in the settings whether they should drop through, have a margin applied to them, or be ignored entirely (see the icon before the rule name).

  

A product is never repriced by more than one rule. If it meets the settings of a rule in the table above and is repriced by it, it no longer continues on. The list of rules thus works like a sieve, gradually sifting products through the individual rules until only the products that don’t meet any rule remain at the end.

• To change the order of rules, use the Change order button above the table. After you click it, the appearance of the table changes and you can simply move rules with the mouse so they suit your requirements. Then press the Save button.

  

• If you manage several projects with Pricing Fox enabled and don’t want to manually create similar rules over and over again, you can use the Import/Export button. Export saves all rules to a JSON file on your hard drive, and if needed you can then upload it back into Pricing Fox via Import.

  

You can also use Export and Import as a simple form of backup for the rules you’ve created.

After rules are successfully uploaded, you must manually set the product query for them (which we don’t export), so the rules are created paused.

• To create a new rule, you can use either the Create new rule button above the table or, when you hover over the individual rows, a + button pops up between the individual positions, which lets you quickly add a rule at a specific position among the rules.

  

• On the right side of the table, the basic statistics of the rules and a button for quick actions are shown.

  

FAQ#

How do I tell which rule reprices a specific product? On the Products page, the Rule column shows the name of the rule that last repriced each product. On the Product detail you’ll then find the complete calculation procedure, including the rule used and the reference price.

What happens when I delete a rule? Products that fell under the given rule will be repriced by the next rule in order on the next recalculation – or they’ll remain unrepriced if no other rule applies. Deleting a rule is irreversible, but you can always export it first.

Why wasn’t the product query preserved when importing rules? The product query is deliberately not exported – it’s tied to a specific project and its data. After import, the rules are created paused and the query must be set manually.

Can I share rules between multiple projects? Yes, via the Export/Import button. You export the rules to a JSON file and upload it into another project. You then have to set the product query manually in the new project.

Can I apply the same rule to multiple product queries? Yes – for each rule you can set any combination of Mergado queries or product filters.
