Automatic color balancing#
Automatic color balancing is a Feed Image Editor feature that corrects the color cast of product images in bulk. Images whose white areas have a yellowish, bluish, or otherwise color-shifted tone are displayed with a neutral white after applying it, exactly as most advertising systems and price comparison sites require.
When it comes in handy#
A color shift in white most often occurs with images taken under artificial lighting or imported from suppliers with different camera settings. The result is images that do not look visually clean, even when they otherwise have a white background.
The feature is especially useful when the feed contains images from multiple sources with different color temperatures, and manually correcting every image would be prohibitively time-consuming.
Setting it up in the extension#
Automatic color balancing is activated in the Feed Image Editor graphic template by checking the corresponding option. The correction runs automatically without any further settings – the extension evaluates and corrects the color cast on its own.
FAQ#
Does automatic color balancing affect the colors of the product itself?#
The feature targets the correction of the image’s overall color cast. For products with bold colors, a slight shift in color rendering can occur, and we recommend checking the results on the Previews page, especially for products where the exact color is critical (fashion, cosmetics).
Can automatic color balancing be combined with filters (brightness, contrast, gamma)?#
Yes. Both features are part of the graphic template and can be used at the same time. For images with both a color cast and unsuitable brightness or contrast, combining them is a natural solution.
Does the feature also work on images without a white background?#
Yes. Automatic color balancing corrects the color cast of the whole image regardless of the background color.
Does the feature affect the original images in the feed?#
No. Feed Image Editor generates new output images, and the originals in the feed remain unchanged.
