Project settings#

In the Project settings section, you define the key parameters that determine how the system works with images, how it compresses them, where it sends important system notifications, and which elements it includes in the data flow. Correct settings in this section keep the whole project running smoothly and ensure efficient management. Project settings can be split into several sections:

Main settings form#

  • lets you set the number of products on the Previews page

  • choose the output format (e.g. JPEG) and the compression level of the output image to reduce file size while preserving visual quality. You can also automatically cap the maximum file size (e.g. up to 2 MB)

  • enable shorter URLs with a file extension (some comparison shopping engines require an image extension in the URL), only re-download images when their URL changes (ideal when the image content itself doesn’t change), or group by image

  • enable sending system notifications and tips to the contact email you provide, and assign your project to the correct category (e.g. Fashion)

  • you can also go back and review or edit the first-time setup wizard you went through when creating the project

Output image preview#

Lets you test how products look in their edited form. This is useful when you’re changing, for example, automatic compression to a certain file size or the output format, and want to instantly check how the products will actually look with the applied templates.

Advanced settings#

This section contains a filter for the elements sent to Feed Image Editor when rules are applied, and limits for data requests. You’ll also find an overview of which elements are required for your templates to run smoothly, so that key elements are never missing from the data flow.

FAQ#

How can I reduce the file size of images while keeping the quality?#

In the settings, you can choose the output format (e.g. JPEG) and adjust the compression level of the output image. To automatically stay within the limits set by comparison shopping engines, you can also set a maximum file size here (e.g. capped at 2 MB).

When should I enable shorter URLs with a file extension?#

Enable this feature if you’re advertising on comparison shopping engines that strictly require an image extension (e.g. JPEG) directly in the image’s URL.

How does the option to only re-download images when their URL changes work?#

This option ensures the system only re-downloads images when their URL changes. It’s the ideal solution when the visual content of your images itself doesn’t change, saving you bandwidth.

What does the option to group by image do?#

This feature lets the system efficiently group products that share the same source image.

Where will system notifications and tips be sent?#

Alerts and useful tips from the system will be sent to the contact email you provide in this form, or the one you entered in the first-time setup wizard.

Why is it important to assign the project to the correct category?#

By choosing the right category (e.g. Fashion), you help Feed Image Editor better understand your product range.

Can I go back to the project’s initial setup?#

Yes. In this section, you can review or edit the steps from the First-time setup wizard that you went through when creating the project.

Where can I find out which elements are needed for templates to work correctly?#

You’ll find an overview of all the required elements directly in the Advanced settings. This ensures your data flow will never be missing the key elements your templates need to run smoothly.
