Products#

The Products page is where you search in detail and segment your product range based on technical and content-related filters. It lets you find specific groups of products (e.g. products with a dark background, images featuring a person, etc.), save them as queries, and later apply them in templates.

What can you search and filter by?#

The dozens of filters in the Products section can be split into three main areas: system and data parameters of the feed, technical image parameters, and content and visual image parameters.

  1. System and data parameters of the feed – This group of filters is the key link between the visual look of your ads and the technical structure of your product feed in Mergado. With these tools you can easily sync graphics with text data, check system errors in bulk, clean up incomplete product cards, or search for items based on specific marketing parameters.

    • Full-text search and identifiers – classic full-text search across product names, or precise targeting using the unique Mergado product ID.

    • Group – quickly sorts products into logical groups by technical status and error type. This makes it easy to filter categories such as invalid URL, unavailable images, missing images, unsupported format, page not found, and more.

    • Template – search for products by which specific template they’re in, and where the system has already worked with the image.

    • Elements – detailed filtering based on values in key elements such as product ID, product name, output image URL, price including VAT, delivery_date, manufacturer, category, EAN, and more. You can also find products missing a value in a specific data element, which makes cleaning up feed errors easier.

  2. Technical image parameters – this group of filters watches purely technical file properties.

    • Dimensions and orientation – filter by the width/height of the source image in pixels and by image orientation (portrait, landscape, square).

    • File size and format – search by file size in kB and image format (JPEG, PNG, WebP, etc.).

    • Color models – sRGB and Grayscale. sRGB displays millions of colors using three color channels for monitors and the web, while Grayscale uses only one channel for shades of gray, significantly reducing file size and removing all color.

    • Status code – indicates the technical availability of the image on your online store’s server. In short, it tells you whether Feed Image Editor was able to successfully download the image from its URL (status code 200: OK) or whether the download failed due to an error (status code 404: page not found).

  3. Content and visual image parameters – this is where advanced AI analysis comes in, examining the actual content inside the image regardless of the text data in the feed (background hue, transparency, solid/multi-color background, presence of a person, ratio of object size to canvas).

    • Background analysis – filter by whether the background is light, dark, transparent, solid, or multi-color. You can also search for a specific background color.

    • Presence of a person – thanks to AI detection, you can tell whether a person appears in the image, based on a percentage confidence level.

    • Product placement – the Object position on the canvas and Distance from edge filters (in %) let you precisely identify where the product sits within the image. There are also OK / Not OK status options. You can filter by whether the image is:

      • centered, at the top, at the bottom, on the left, or on the right

      • arranged vertically or horizontally

      • has a complex background, an unknown format, or an OK status

    • Watermark detection – identifies the presence of unwanted watermarks or logos in images, which could cause products to be rejected on advertising channels.

      • The quick Watermark in image (user) filter instantly shows you which products contain a watermark in the image.

      • Using the Watermark probability [%] slider (0% to 100%), you can set your own confidence threshold for how certain the AI system needs to be that it detected a watermark in the image. This is ideal for catching even subtle or semi-transparent logos.

      • If you’ve worked with watermark removal, you can also filter Products with marked watermarks or Without marked watermarks so you can edit them as well.

    • Find similar images – a special feature where you can upload a reference file from your computer, and the system searches the project for the visually closest matches.

Types of tables with filtered products#

  1. Products – this default tab serves as a product overview, showing the basic system, technical, and content parameters for each product in one place. Quick icons at the end of each row take you straight to:

    • Image URL – opens the direct URL of the source image in a new browser window

    • Image from Feed Image Editor – shows the output image after the template has been applied

    • Product in Mergado – takes you directly to that product’s card in the Mergado interface

    • Product in online store – links to the product page directly on your website

    • Product in BarCode Lookup – an external link that looks up the product in an international database by its EAN code

    • Find similar images – searches across your product range to find the visually closest alternative to the selected product

  2. Image validation – focuses on a quick check of the product image status, with the option to manually adjust the validation for each individual product. In one place, it gives you an instant answer on the product’s placement Status, Distance from edge, and Transparency. This makes it easy to spot whether images are fine or show flaws and look suspicious. At the end of each row you’ll find a set of quick system links for instant access.

  3. Watermarks – detects unwanted watermarks in product photos. The key feature is the option to manually correct the status (Contains watermark / Doesn’t contain watermark) for each product individually, giving you full control over how the system evaluates the images.

  4. Image quality – helps identify low-quality, blurry, or pixelated source files. As with the other advanced analyses, you can manually change the automatically evaluated status if needed.

  5. Visual similarity – if this feature is enabled, you’ll find products with an identical or very similar visual appearance here. This is great for spotting duplicate images across your product range or for grouping color and size variants of products.

  6. Queries – this tab is a clear list of all the product queries you’ve saved and segmented. If you’re just getting started with the app and don’t have any of your own queries yet, you can use the Predefined FIE queries. Clicking the Create link opens a window with the most commonly used queries, which you can generate with a single click. The system lets you instantly create these queries:

    • Small images (up to 600x600 px) – to identify products with low resolution, for which you can use the Resolution enhancement feature.

    • Small images, centered – segmented by fix priority (low, medium, and high).

    • Images with watermarks – an automatic filter for product photos where the AI detected watermarks.

    • Low-quality images up to 600px – to catch the technically worst source files.

    • Images without a white background – ideal for advertising on comparison shopping engines that strictly require a plain white background.

    • Person in image – filters images featuring a person, which is useful for specific campaigns in fashion categories, for example.

    • Product photo orientation – automatically sorts images into Portrait images, Landscape images, and Square images for correct fitting into templates.

Once queries are created, they appear in a clear table where you can run/pause, edit, or view them directly in Mergado.

FAQ#

What is the Products section and what is it for?#

It’s a place for detailed search and segmentation of your product range, both by data in the feed and by the properties and content of the images. You can save filtered products as a query and keep working with them (e.g. applying templates).

How do I get my bearings in the Products section, and where should I start?#

Start by clarifying what you want to find (e.g. problematic images, a specific part of your product range, visually similar photos), then apply filters. If you’ll come back to this group again, save it as a query.

What are queries, and why should I save them at all?#

Queries are saved product segments based on filters. They let you return to the same groups (e.g. problematic images) and repeatedly apply templates to them or run checks.

Do I have to set up queries manually, or does the system help me?#

You don’t have to start from scratch – Predefined FIE queries are available, letting you pick from the most common segments (e.g. small images, no white background, with watermarks, and more).

How do I find out why some images aren’t displaying or aren’t available?#

In this section you’ll find filters and overviews showing the technical status of images (e.g. availability by status code). This makes it easy to filter out products with unavailable or missing images.

How do I find products with incomplete or missing data in the feed in this section?#

Use filtering by elements – through Element you can search for specific values (e.g. EAN, manufacturer, category), and through Empty elements you can also find products where the selected element is missing.
