Products#

A product query determines which products a template in Feed Image Editor applies to. Every template must have at least one product query assigned – without it, you cannot save or run the template.

Where you set the product query#

Selecting products is the first step when creating or editing a template. The right panel shows a list of all queries available in the project. Simply click the one you want to assign to the template. The number of products each query contains is shown next to it.

Types of product queries#

Mergado queries – queries created directly in Mergado are automatically available in Feed Image Editor. You can prepare them in Mergado using any rules you like (category, supplier, price, availability, etc.) and use them directly as the basis for a template.

FIE queries – queries created directly in Feed Image Editor based on image properties. Typical FIE queries filter products, for example, by:

• image orientation (portrait, landscape, square format),

• background color of the image,

• presence of a watermark,

If FIE queries do not yet exist in the project, the extension offers to create them quickly with a single click using the Create predefined FIE queries button.

FIE_HIDE – a special system query. Products included in this query are excluded from all processing in Feed Image Editor. It is useful for temporarily hiding a group of products without having to change the template settings. You can also hide products from the Diagnostics page.

The relationship between the product query and template hierarchy#

If the product queries of two or more templates overlap – meaning one product falls into more than one query – the template hierarchy decides which one is applied. Only one template is ever applied to a given product: the one positioned highest in the template hierarchy whose query includes that product.

FAQ#

What happens when a product stops meeting the conditions of a product query – for example, if its price or category changes?#

The product query is updated the next time the feed is regenerated. A product that no longer meets the conditions drops out of the query, and the template stops applying to it. If it falls into a different query, the corresponding template processes it according to the hierarchy.

Can I change the product query of an existing template?#

Yes. You can change the query at any time by going directly to the template settings. Just select a different query from the list and save the template. The change takes effect the next time the template is processed.

How do I know how many products a query contains?#

The number of products is shown right next to the name of each query in the list in the right panel.

Can I create a product query directly in Feed Image Editor, or do I always have to go to Mergado?#

You can create FIE queries directly in the extension on the Products page. These are queries that filter products by properties of their images. For queries based on other product parameters (price, category, availability, etc.), you need to create the query in Mergado – it is then loaded into Feed Image Editor automatically.

What is FIE_HIDE and what is it for?#

FIE_HIDE is a special product query that contains products hidden from processing in Feed Image Editor. The extension does not process products included in this query, which is useful, for example, for temporarily excluding a group of products from editing without having to delete or change a template.
