Element CATEGORYTEXT#

Basic information#

The CATEGORYTEXT element should contain the Heureka category path. It is used to classify products from the feed into the correct categories in the Heureka catalogue. It is an important element for pairing products into product cards. A pipe character is used as the category level separator: |

Frequently asked questions#

  • How do I set categories according to the Heureka category tree?
    • Mergado has a dedicated rule for this: Rename categories in bulk.
  • Is the CATEGORYTEXT element used for pairing products into product cards?
    • Yes, it is one of the main pairing elements (together with PRODUCTNAME).
  • Is it possible to update CATEGORYTEXT in bulk automatically?
    • Yes, if you use the Pairing Bear extension for Mergado, which can process the unmatched products report generated by Heureka. This lets you update thousands of categories in a single click based on Heureka’s own suggestions — provided Heureka’s report includes those suggestions.
  • Will products on Heureka become unpaired if the CATEGORYTEXT element changes?
    • Yes, the products will then go through the pairing process again. The duration depends on Heureka’s capacity.

What Mergado Audit checks for the CATEGORYTEXT element#

  • Whether the CATEGORYTEXT element is missing or empty for any products.
  • Whether any product has more than one CATEGORYTEXT element — Heureka only processes the first CATEGORYTEXT occurrence for each item.
  • The audit flags an invalid separator between category levels or extra separators. (The correct level separator in a Heureka feed is the pipe character |.)
  • Whether the CATEGORYTEXT element contains only a single value (one level), or an invalid value. The element should contain the full category path down to the deepest level — at a minimum, a category and a subcategory separated by |.
  • The audit also detects when CATEGORYTEXT contains URLs, which do not belong in this element.
