How to connect Google Search Console and Mergado Sources#
Connecting Google Search Console to the Mergado Sources extension lets you import data on the performance of your pages and search queries (number of clicks, impressions, average position, and CTR) directly into your product feed in the project in Mergado Editor.
How to create a connection with Google Search Console?#
1. Activating the extension#
Activate Mergado Sources in Mergado Store: I want to activate → select the project you want to work with → Enable.
2. Signing in via Google#
- Open the Mergado Sources interface and go to the Data sources tab.
- Next to the Google Search Console source, click the Sign in via Google button.
- Sign in to your Google account under which you manage Search Console.
- During authorisation, you must check the consent to read and modify data access. Without this, the connection to Mergado Sources will not work. (Access to modify data is a technical requirement of the Google authorisation process — Mergado Sources only reads data from Search Console and does not modify it in any way.)
3. Saving in Mergado Sources#
- After successfully authorising and returning to the Mergado Sources interface, click Save connection.
- If everything is in order, the connection status will change to green with the message Connection is active.
After successfully connecting, do not forget to set the domain correctly in the Page URL field when creating an element. The list will only show domains you have verified in your Search Console account. An incorrect domain setting is the most common cause of a non-working connection.
FAQ#
What do I need to connect Google Search Console to Mergado Sources?#
You need the Google account under which you manage Search Console, and the Mergado Sources extension activated for the relevant project in Mergado Editor.
How does sign-in work — do I need an API key?#
No, no API key is required. The connection takes place via standard authorisation through your Google account in a separate window.
Why do I have to check the data modification consent during authorisation?#
This is a technical requirement of the Google authorisation process. Mergado Sources only reads data from Search Console and does not modify it in any way. Without checking this consent, the connection will not work.
What data can I import from Search Console?#
From Search Console, you can get the number of clicks, impressions, click-through rate (CTR), and average position — either for specific page URLs or for search queries. For search queries, you can also find out which URL appeared most frequently as the first result for that query.
How do I know the connection to Search Console is working?#
On the Data sources tab in the Mergado Sources interface, you will see a green “Connection is active” status next to the Google Search Console source.
Why didn’t data appear right after the first regeneration?#
For data to appear in the project, you need to regenerate the project at least twice. On the first regeneration, Mergado Sources loads what data it needs to retrieve, and on the second it then writes the data to the elements.
I set up the connection correctly, but data is still not downloading — where could the problem be?#
The most common cause is an incorrectly set domain in the “Page URL” field when creating an element. The list only shows domains you have verified in your Google Search Console account. Check that you selected the correct domain — it can be either a specific address (e.g., https://www.your-store.com/) or an entire group of domains (e.g., sc-domain:your-store.com).
