Preset#
The Preset format offers predefined dimensions for all major advertising systems and price comparison sites. Once you select a system, the canvas size is set automatically. You do not need to know the exact dimensions or enter them manually.
How to set it up#
On tab 2 when setting up the template, select the Preset format tab and choose the advertising system or comparison site you are preparing the images for. The canvas dimensions are set automatically according to that platform’s current requirements.
Available platforms#
The Preset format covers all the major platforms you can advertise on from Mergado – Google, Meta, Heureka, Zboží.cz, Allegro, and more. The list is updated on an ongoing basis.
Ways to fit the image to the format#
After choosing a preset format, tab 3 lets you set how the images should fit that format. Under Resize or crop the image, there are two options: No fitting or Fit image size. If you choose to fit the image size, five fitting options are available:
-
Fit to the output format dimensions – the most universal option; it fits all images regardless of their original orientation and aspect ratio. The recommended setting for feeds with varied images.
-
Fit by image width – suitable when images are landscape-oriented and the output format is portrait (e.g., Instagram Story 1080 × 1920).
-
Fit by image height – suitable when images are portrait-oriented and the output format is landscape (e.g., Facebook 1200 × 628).
-
Fit by the larger image dimension – suitable when images have varying orientations and their overall layout is not clear. The extension fits each image based on its longer side.
-
Fit by the smaller image dimension – suitable for images with a lot of white background, where you want to zoom in on the product and have it fill a larger part of the area. Excess white margins are cropped and the product is centered. Note: if the product already fills most of the image area, it may get cropped.
Fine-tuning the product size#
You can further adjust the size of the product in the image using Overflow width. A negative value shrinks the product and creates more space around it – for example, for graphic labels. A positive value brings the product closer to the edges of the canvas.
FAQ#
Are the preset formats up to date? What if a platform changes its requirements?#
The formats are updated on an ongoing basis. If you are not sure about the current requirements of a specific platform, we recommend checking them directly in that platform’s documentation.
What happens to empty areas if the image’s aspect ratio does not match the output format?#
By default, empty areas are filled with white. If you want a seamless continuation of the scene instead of white margins – for example, with lifestyle images – use the Outpainting feature.
Can fitting cause the product to become distorted or stretched?#
No. All fitting methods preserve the image’s original aspect ratio. The product is never stretched or distorted.
Which fitting method should I choose if I do not know how my images are oriented?#
The safest choice is Fit to the output format dimensions as the most universal solution, or alternatively Fit by the larger image dimension. We always recommend checking the result on a sample of images on the Previews page.
