Glossary of terms#

Rule (repricing/pricing rule) — the basic unit of pricing. Defines which products get repriced, based on which reference price, with what adjustment, limits, and rounding.

Rules — the ordered list of all your rules. Rules higher up take precedence: a product is tested from the first rule down and stays with the first one it matches.

Reference price — the price the new price is calculated from. Most often a competitor’s price or a group of competitors, not your own input price.

Input price (original price) — your product’s price as Pricing Fox reads it from the feed.

Output price (new, final price) — the result of the whole calculation; the price sent back to your store or another system.

Calculated price — an intermediate step: the reference price after adjustment (discount, markup), before limits and rounding are applied.

Purchase price (cost price) — an optional value that lets Pricing Fox calculate and protect margin. It’s never written anywhere unless you explicitly set that up.

Limits — the boundaries within which the output price may move: based on margin/markup from the purchase price, based on the maximum discount/markup against the input price, or as a fixed price ceiling/floor.

Filter — a saved group of products you create yourself directly in Pricing Fox based on any criteria.

Selection (Mergado selection) — similar to a filter, but created at the Mergado level; uses its more advanced segmentation options.

Product feed (XML feed) — a data file with information about your goods, used by Pricing Fox as input.

Competition / competitor — a store selling the same or similar products, tracked via a connection to a price comparison site (Heureka, Zboží.cz).

Price comparison site — Heureka.cz/.sk or Zboží.cz as a source of competitor offers and statistics.

Diagnostics — an ongoing check of your pricing quality, which flags errors, unusual changes, or opportunities for improvement.

Alerts — an ongoing check of Pricing Fox’s technical back end (connections, data synchronization, active rules) — a different function from diagnostics.

Project health — a summary view of the important errors, warnings, and recommendations from diagnostics in one place.

AI Analyst (labeled Project Analyst on the Overview page) — an automatic text commentary on how your project is developing, calculated by default on Pricing Fox’s own AI infrastructure.

Rule application — the actual run that calculates new prices. Happens automatically several times a day, or can be triggered manually.

Product tag — a colored label you create for a group of products; can be assigned manually or automatically based on a saved filter.

Import — a regularly downloaded custom or supplier price list (CSV), usable as another reference-price source in rules.
