How to connect Google Ads and Mergado Sources#

Connecting Google Ads to the Mergado Sources extension lets you import performance metrics (such as costs, conversions, or revenue) directly to your products in the project in Mergado Editor.

How to create a connection with Google Ads?#

1. Activating the extension#

Activate Mergado Sources in Mergado Store: I want to activateselect the project you want to work with → Enable.

2. Signing in via Google#

  • Open the Mergado Sources interface and go to the Data sources tab.
  • Next to the Google Ads source, click the Sign in via Google button.
  • Sign in to your Google account under which you manage Google Ads.
  • During authorisation, you must check the consent to read and modify data access. Without this, the connection to Mergado Sources will not work. (Access to modify data is a technical requirement of the Google authorisation process — Mergado Sources only reads data from Google Ads and does not modify it in any way.)

For MCC account users: If your Google account manages a large number of advertising accounts, authorisation may take longer. In that case, please be patient and do not close the window.

3. Saving in Mergado Sources#

  • After successfully authorising and returning to the Mergado Sources interface, click Save connection.
  • If everything is in order, the connection status will change to green with the message Connection is active.

FAQ#

What do I need to connect Google Ads to Mergado Sources?#

You need the Google account under which you manage Google Ads, and the Mergado Sources extension activated for the relevant project in Mergado Editor.

How does sign-in work — do I need an API key?#

No, no API key is required. The connection takes place via standard authorisation through your Google account in a separate window.

This is a technical requirement of the Google authorisation process. Mergado Sources only reads data from Google Ads and does not modify it in any way. Without checking this consent, the connection will not work.

What data can I import from Google Ads?#

From Google Ads, you can import the number of clicks, costs, number of conversions, revenue (conversion value), impressions, click-through rate (CTR), average cost per click (CPC), and ROAS for individual products. Data can be downloaded for periods of 7, 30, or 90 days.

Authorisation is taking very long or not responding — what should I do?#

If your Google account manages a large number of advertising accounts (MCC account), authorisation may take longer than usual. Do not close the window and wait for the process to complete.

How do I know the connection to Google Ads is working?#

On the Data sources tab in the Mergado Sources interface, you will see a green “Connection is active” status next to the Google Ads source.

Why didn’t data appear right after the first regeneration?#

For data to appear in the project, you need to regenerate the project at least twice. On the first regeneration, Mergado Sources loads what data it needs to retrieve, and on the second it then writes the data to the elements.
