Background settings#

Background settings determine what fills the area behind the product in the output image. It is set up on tab 4 in the right panel of the graphic template, on the same tab as the AI tools and other effects. It is most often used in combination with Background removal, where after removing the original background, the empty area is replaced by the default white color, or any color or other effect you choose.

Available options#

Color – fills the background with a single fixed color. The color can be entered as a hex code directly in the text field (for example, #ffffff for white). The most commonly used option for meeting the requirements of price comparison sites and advertising systems that require a white background.

Gradient – fills the background with a transition between two or more colors. Useful for more creative advertising outputs, where a solid-color background is not enough to stand out visually from the competition.

Random colors – each product gets a randomly assigned background color. The result is a varied set of images, suitable, for example, for carousel ads, where background variety catches attention.

Random gradients – similar to random colors, but instead of a solid color, each product gets a randomly assigned color gradient.

Color from product – the background is automatically set to the color that dominates in the product image. The result is a visually harmonious image where the background matches the product, without having to manually determine and enter the color.

Color from product 2 – the background is set to the second most prominent color in the product image.

Color from product 3 – the background is set to the third most prominent color in the product image.

When to use which option#

The choice depends on the target output:

  • Price comparison sites and marketplaces (Google Shopping, Heureka, Zboží.cz, Allegro) – generally require a white or neutral background -> Color with the value #ffffff.

  • Creative advertising formats (Meta, display ads) – more freedom for visual treatment -> Gradient, Random colors, or Color from product for a harmonious and original look.

  • Carousel adsRandom colors or Random gradients for visual variety across images.

FAQ#

Do I need Background removal active for Background settings to work?#

Yes and no. Background settings can also be used without Background removal. The new color or effect is added as a layer under the original image. If the original image has an opaque background, the new color behind it will not be visible. For a visible result, we recommend combining Background settings with Background removal.

Can I enter any color, or only a color from a predefined palette?#

You can enter any color as a hex code directly in the text field. You are not limited to any predefined palette. If you would like to add your own color palette, however, you can do so on the Settings page, in the Brand colors section.

How does Color from product work, what determines the color?#

The extension analyzes the product image and identifies the colors with the largest share of pixels. Color from product corresponds to the most dominant one, Color from product 2 to the second most dominant, and Color from product 3 to the third most dominant. The resulting color may differ from product to product depending on which colors appear in the specific image.

Can Background settings be combined with the Outpainting feature?#

Background settings and Outpainting serve a similar purpose, in that both fill the area behind the product. Outpainting generates a visually continuing extension of the scene using AI, while Background settings fills the area with a color or effect. Whether combining them makes sense depends on the specific case.
