How to duplicate a project in Mergado?#
Do you need to create a new project that is essentially the same as one you already have, and you don’t want to recreate all the rules from scratch? Are you setting up a new online store in Mergado that is a language variant of another online store on a different domain, and you want to create projects that are nearly identical to those in the existing online store?
Do you need to try out a few new rules and modifications in a project but don’t want to risk breaking a project that is running in production? Or do you simply want to back up a project, just to be safe?
All of these situations can be easily solved using the Project Duplication feature, which lets you create a copy of the selected project with a single click. During duplication, you can also choose whether to create the copy under the same online store or a different online store for which you have Owner or Write permissions.
Duplication also copies all rules, saving you a lot of time that you would otherwise spend creating them. In the new project, you may only need to swap the input feed, make a few adjustments, and you are done.
What information is transferred to the duplicated project?#
Duplication creates a new standalone project with the name you choose, under the selected online store. Almost all information from the original project is transferred:
- Input feed URL and format
- Output feed format
- All created queries
- All created rules (and also some rules created by extensions that were running on the original project)
- All created elements and variables (elements created by extensions will only be populated with values once you activate the corresponding extension on the new project)
What is NOT transferred to the duplicated project:
- Extensions that were enabled on the original project are not automatically activated (and some rules created by extensions are not transferred either)
- Manual changes to products
- Edit and change history from the original project
- A new output URL will be generated
